World 8-Ball Pool Championships
The WPA is currently holding qualifying matches to decide who will go through to the World 8-Ball Championships which commences April 18th. Eight qualifying events are to be held in total during April 12th and April 16th in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
As the qualifying rounds are underway, one winner from each event will progress to the last 64 stage of the WPA 8-Ball Pool championship. There will be eight groups with eight competitors in each for the preliminary rounds, and the final entrants will be decided through double and single elimination matches. The event is open to all international pool professionals and there are entrants from over thirty different countries.
Last Saturday Roberto (Superman) Gomez became one of the early entrants to be included in the main tournament. The Pool pro from the Philippines was runner-up at the WPC final last year as he was defeated by Daryl Peach. Gomez hopes to go all the way this year…
‘I’m very happy that I made it on my first try, now that I have another chance to become a world champion. I will give my best to finally achieve that dream.’

Other entrants include, Wu Chia Ching, Shane Van Boeing, former champ Ralf Souquet and Oliver Ortmann.
The WPA World 8-Ball Pool Championships runs from April 18th to April 25th.
