Kiamco Takes Villar Cup From Reyes
Warren Kiamco reigned at the recent Manny Villar Cup Billiards Tournament on Saturday by outplaying Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes 11-6. Kiamco displayed utter consistency as he claimed the cup at the sports centre of Starmall Alabong in Muntinlupa City.
According to reports, there was over a thousand spectators in attendance who shared kiamco’s joy as he raised the Villar trophy and accepted prize money of P400,000.
The 38 yr old Cebuano was overwhelmed by his victory over number one billiards sensation Reyes,
‘This title is more special too, because I won it against Efren, the best player in the
world.’
The tournament lasted for five days in total, and was organised by the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP), and backed by Bugsy Promotions.
The odds were initially in Reyes’s favour as he had been undefeated in his past four events, He said of the game... ‘It was a good game. I had no dry breaks, although I have missed some after my big start.’
BMPAP couldn’t thank Villar more for being responsible for the event, Perry Mariano said,
‘BMPAP extends our outmost gratitude to Senator Manny Villar and his warm staff – it was a very festive event.’
Reyes left on Saturday to compete in the US Predator International 10-Ball championship. Even though he departed Muntinlupa City as runner-up, he still took away the prize money of P200,000.
