The 2007 888.com World Championship runner up Mark Selby was in Sheffield at Thursday to launch the event which is to be held at The Crucible commencing April 19th. Mark attended a press conference for the media as well as putting on an exhibition at Sheffield train station where commuters and locals witnessed a stunning display from one of the Worlds top snooker players.

Online-pool was at the press conference and with the 888.com trophy by his side, Mark answered questions for the media regarding the forthcoming tournament at the Crucible. The Leicester professional was looking forward to participating in snookers biggest tournament.

‘I’m excited at the thought of going back to the crucible - I’m a little nervous coming back to the tournament because everyone wants to do well.’

The Welsh Open winner will be facing Mark king in the first round at the Crucible and is optimistic about the match, he said in the conference,

‘It’s going to be a tough game – If I keep playing at the standard I have been playing this year then I think I’m capable of coming through it.’

The Jester from Leicester is having an amazing run this year…first he won The Masters in Jan 2008, and only the month after he shone by winning the Welsh Open. With two major ranking titles under his belt this year as well as adding to his consistency by being a semi-finalist at the recent China Open, then there is no doubt that Mark shouldn’t remain in high spirits for the 888.com World Championship. Mark is currently fourth in the provisional rankings; however he would rather concentrate on the game.

‘I’m going to carry on what I’m doing really; I’m just going to take one game at a time. I try not to concentrate on the rankings too much – obviously if you win the matches, then the rankings take care of themselves.’

Following the press conference, Mark headed to the Train Station where he put on an impressive display which demonstrated his skills and professionalism as onlookers observed the 24 yr old snooker prodigy. Sheffield is known as ‘The City of Snooker’ so the exhibition at the train station was appropriate to promote snookers prestige event.
