New China Snooker Tournament Begins
On May 14th, the 2008 Huangshan Cup Snooker All Star Tournament will commence. The Snooker event will be held in China’s province capital, Hefei.
The Tournament boasts a two-day national selection, followed by a three day international competition. The selection process begins on May 14th and accommodates some of the most popular, professional snooker players in the world including current Crucible winner and number one ranked Ronnie O’ Sullivan. Other UK cue stars include Stephen Hendry and Mark Williams and home players include Liang Wenbo, Liu Chang and Ding Junhui.
The expert participants are still in tournament mode because they recently competed in the 888.com World Snooker Championships, held at the Crucible theatre in Sheffield.
The event is jointly held by the China Billiards Association and Anhui Sport Bureau, and is reported to last for five days.
China has experienced recent success by hosting the Honghe Industrial 2008 China Open, now the Huangshan Cup can now be added to their list of sporting events as well as adding to snookers growing popularity.
