Bata Still in The Run For Manny Villar Cup
The event took place at the Event Center of SM City in Marilao, Bulacan this past Saturday.
Reyes, 54, made a stunning comeback as he was originally 0-3 down but managed to regain form with spectacular shots as he bounced back to seal the victory. Now, reyes is still a worthy contender for the Villar cup and its prize money of P300,000. Reyes was very complimentary of his younger opponent, he said,
‘It’s really difficult to win these days because there are so many young good players. But this is good for the sport and Jomar is one of our top young players. If he continues to shine, he’ll go far.’
20 Yr old De Ocampo from Alaminos, Pangasinan made a few misses after the third rack, allowing Reyes to make a comeback and perform to the standard his fans expect. Reyes is now in the final 16 of the three day event, held by the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Phillipines (BMPAP) and supported by Puyat sports, Bugsy Promotions, Negros Billiards, and ER Cues.
Fellow player and crowd favourite, Ronnie Alcano was not as lucky as Reyes as he suffered a loss to Egie ‘Marilao’ Geronimo 9-7.
