Six Red Ball Snooker Championships
The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) announced on Monday that a five nation international six red-ball snooker championship will take place in Karachi on August 20-22.
The tournament was originally meant to commence this July but du to the hectic schedules of the players; it has been re-arranged to the new fixture in August.
Teams from India, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Quatar, and Thailand will be taking part in the tournament. Quatar have been invited to compete in the tournament to replace the team from Bahrain because they are unable to enter.
So far, the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) have recently announced their team who include former Asian snooker champion Yasin Merchant, 2008 runner-up Adisya Mehta, and Mannan Chandra.
Pakistan will participate by entering two teams in the tournament. The team is yet to be named; however, it will consist of three cue artists per team and one official.
The players who are to represent Pakistan will be chosen based on their current national rankings. The rankings will be determined after the style cup national ranking snooker championships which are also to take place in Karachi Club’s Amir Bakhsh hall from June 23. All other teams will also include three players and one official.
All competing teams will recieve an award for participating; however, there will be a substantial cash award for the team which reaches victory.
