Punkaj Advani Reigns in Myanmar
Last week Indian International billiard player Punkaj Advani won the Asian Billiards crown in Myanmar. The achievement has given the player credit as being the only Indian billiards cue player to win the coveted title twice, he also won in 2005.
KSBA Vice-President MC Uthappa presented a cheque to Advani for Rs 15,000. Punkaj claimed the title in the final when he defeated Rupesh Shah 5-4. Punkaj spoke about his defeat…
‘Rupesh had the upper hand as he was leading by 12 points in the final frame but I could somehow pull it off in the cliff-hanger.’
The 22 yr old Bangalorean has definitely established himself as a top cueist, he is now set to continue his run as he prepares for the Asian Snooker Championship which will be held in Dubai from May 1-10. Advani is excited about the upcoming tournament,
‘It’s just the sheer thrill of shining as an artist which motivates me everytime I make an appearance in any championship.’
The Myanmar Champion will participate in the tournament against players from all over the world including, China, Taipei, Pakistan and Thailand. ‘They are all tough competitors but my motto is to win,’ said the newly crowned champ.
With three titles already under his belt already, Punkaj Advani should have no problem when he heads for the Asian Snooker Championship in May.
