US Players To Invade The Philippines
American Pool Stars Shane Van Boening, Johnny Archer, and Charlie Williams are amongst other US players heading to the Philippines later next month – Sept 29th – Oct 5th at the Philippines International Convention Centre.
Van Boening has already upheld his superstar status this year by claiming two 10-ball tournaments – The US Bar Table Championships and the Derby Classic Ten Ball Ring Game. His performances are another testimony to why he’s one of the biggest earners in the sport today.
Johnny ‘the Scorpion’ Archer is two-time World 9-ball Pool Champion, winning the prestigious title in 1992 and 1997. So far this year, Archer has played in the Philippines Pool Tour and the Mandaluyong Mayor’s Cup where he finished in 13th place. The 40 yr old cue artist was also the runner-up in last year’s Mosconi Cup.
Charlie Williams, (also known as the Korean Dragon) is the founder of the United States Professional Pool players Association (UPA) Men’s Pro Tour.
Other Americans participating in next month’s tournament are Corey Deuel, Robb Saez, Jeremy Jones, Gabe Owen, Charlie Bryant, Louis Ulrich, Shaun Wilkie, Stevie Moore, and Oscar Dominguez.
The BSCP Philippine National Pool Championship will also be held this month and four places for the WBTC will be up for grabs.
As the Philippines are the host country, it is allowed 6 wildcard places alongside its organizers Raya Sports.
